Speaker 2: [00:00:00] Hello, how are you all welcome? Welcome to day three of the breathing room challenge. Come on in. Let's get started. Welcome. Hello. I'm so glad to have you all here running a little bit behind today. Just it's been one of those days where I'm just like, You know, going nonstop and, and running like two to three minutes behind on everything that I do.
Dorian said, they're going to see their favorite band in two weeks. Big wreck. Um, I love rock. Like my favorite is, um, classic rock. And it's so funny when I was young, my mom used to listen to it and I thought she was so dumb for it. Cause I really liked at the time, like nineties alternative, but now That classic stuff is my favorite.
We're going to have time for a Q& A session at the end. And I didn't share. Let me rephrase that. I'm going to share about 30 minutes of high value [00:01:00] content. And, uh, then at the end, I'm going to share something that I'm really excited for the doors opening to cluttered to calm my signature program.
It's a complete home management system. So I'm going to share with you how we can continue doing this work. As you put all the puzzle pieces together for your entire household. Now, as always, like the last couple of days, I would love to hear your takeaways and your breakthroughs. You can take a screenshot and send me a DM on social media and just tag me by typing in the maximizing mama.
Now, yesterday you learned the home overhaul blueprint for overhauling your entire home. And overhauling means tackling the messes and all the things that you know, you want to keep. They're just getting left out and they're making your house look visually cluttered. You also learned what to do with the homeless clutter.
So you never again have to wonder what to do with something that you want to keep. Like I just said, all that stuff that's left out everywhere [00:02:00] that makes your house look visually cluttered. And it was so crucial for me. For us to really dive into this because time and time and time again, I see so many people think that they're decluttering, but they're just tackling these messes over and over again.
And it's so disheartening to me, because if you get caught in that trap, that I call it the clutter cycle, this never ending groundhog day, you're going to be dealing with those messes for the rest of your life. And so that's. Why there needs to be a way to get them under control to overhaul them. So then you can move on to the next phase of decluttering, because I know that's why you all are here.
Every one of you, if you found me on social media, you were, you noticed that there was something that I was sharing that. resonated with you because you want to clear away your clutter. And so that's what we're going to be getting into today. Today, you're going to learn the two [00:03:00] decluttering stages that will make it super easy to purge your excess clutter.
And you're also going to learn exactly where to start decluttering and how to keep making progress. So you all have been making some incredible progress in your home over the last few days. You've learned how to create breathing room by dealing with all that stuff around your house that you want to keep. And now it's time to focus on the things that you no longer need to keep in your home.
The things that Like I just said, you no longer need, use, or want these items. They're excess stuff. And so we're going to be getting into how to deal with those things. But first, a quick refresher on what we covered during day one. And that is the fact of when you're wanting to transform your entire home from messy and cluttered to calm and organized.
There's a lot that needs to be done overhauling the messes, purging the excess clutter, getting the [00:04:00] clutter out of your house, learning how to let go, handling sentimental items, breaking emotional attachments, organizing your mind for good, simplifying your meals and your groceries, streamlining your paperwork, staying on top of emails and photos, keeping track of everything you need to do, getting your partner on board, teaching your kids to help out, as well as refining your own habits and creating a lifestyle change.
So instead of doing all of that stuff randomly and sporadically, you can tackle your home one phase at a time to simplify all of that to simplify everything you need to do. And that's exactly what the peaceful home road map is all about. It's a four phase process that will help you Turn your entire household around in the next six months by focusing on one phase for every room of your house until you move on to the next phase.
Now for days one and two of this challenge, the breeding room challenge, we were highly focused on the overhaul [00:05:00] phase. Now for day three, we're going to be diving into the decluttering phase when you're ditching and demolishing and clearing and purging the excess clutter. Then tomorrow we have a bonus day, day number four.
And that's going to be all about phase three of the peaceful home roadmap, the organized phase and beyond. I put beyond here because. Day four is the last day that we have a live session, but this community will be here for a couple of weeks. I will be in here to answer any questions. And then I also have my course cluttered to calm that can help you with the final phase of the peaceful home roadmap, the maintenance phase.
Now phase two of the peaceful home roadmap is the cluttering. And this is, like I said, it's when you're purging your house and you're deciding what you want to keep. And what you want to let go of. You're not organizing while you declutter like the home edit says to do, [00:06:00] because that doesn't work. It doesn't work when you're at the beginning phases of taking control of your home.
During this decluttering phase, you are not buying baskets and bins. You're not labeling different areas and you're definitely not trying to get your family on board. You're not trying to develop a cleaning schedule. You're solely focusing on decluttering your entire home until you finish. That's it. Let me rephrase that.
Of course, you can tidy up and, you know, clean and things like that, but you're not, like the bulk of your time and effort, the free time that you have available will be spent on decluttering. So let's get into this decluttering phase and how you can purge your entire house one step at a time without the overwhelm.
So as another quick refresher, and this is mainly for the people who, some of the people that have registered for this challenge, they will need to still catch up on day one and day two, and they might watch day three and miss [00:07:00] the first two days. So that's why I have these quick little blurbs in here as refreshers.
So the big three messes is my proprietary framework that tells you exactly what to do with all the stuff that's giving you trouble in your home. We have the everyday messes that are going to be items that you know where they belong. They just need to get put there. They need to get put away. Then we also have the homeless clutter, and these are the things that you don't know what to do with.
Maybe it's because you're just not sure. Maybe it's because you don't have room for them. Either way, they're left out because they do not have a dedicated, permanent home where they can always go back to. Hence, that's why they're called homeless. And then the last of the big three messes is the accumulated clutter, and this is the stuff that's piling up and accumulating in places.
During the decluttering phase, you're going to be prioritizing the accumulated clutter, the true accumulated clutter, from [00:08:00] every room of your house. Now, this accumulated clutter, sometimes I call it true clutter, sometimes I call it hidden clutter, it's all the same thing. It's just my way of differentiating that this is like the real clutter.
It's not the, the homeless items. It's not the messes that are piling up, the accumulated clutter, the true clutter is the stuff that's in closets, cabinets, drawers, shelves, bins, boxes, bags. Or even piles of stuff like you can see right here on this photo. It's essentially going to be the things that are accumulating and you likely are not really even sure what it all consists of.
Now this is so crucial to point out because it's really easy to see messes and think that they're clutter like this photo on the screen. This looks like clutter and if you think that it's [00:09:00] clutter you're going to try to tackle it the same way that you would the clutter. But these types of messes like this photo here on the slides.
These need to be overhauled as you tidy the everyday messes with intention and put them back where they belong and find a home for the homeless clutter. But the true accumulated clutter on the other hand, this is the stuff that's Piling up, like I said earlier, sometimes I call it hidden clutter because it's, it's either going to be hidden inside bins, boxes, drawers, shelves, bags, et cetera, or it's going to be hidden in a large pile of stuff.
So it's essentially the things that are in this accumulation of clutter is hidden to the naked eye. Like you cannot look at a pile of stuff. You can't tell what is back here, you know? So that's why. That's a really easy way to differentiate and how you can easily tell this is an [00:10:00] accumulated pile of clutter, whereas this is a pile of homeless clutter.
And the simple solution for this through accumulated clutter is to sort through all of it and decide what to keep and what to let go of. Now, as I'm sure you know, decluttering isn't simple. It's a complex topic with a lot that falls under the umbrella of decluttering. It, it, it, it's not like just a black and white thing, you know, where you think, okay, I'm going to declutter this area and then you're just going to.
Or let me rephrase that. It's not black and white to where you can easily declutter your entire house in a weekend like so many experts will say that you can do. So there's all these things that could fall under the umbrella of decluttering, such as feeling fully confident. Sue said a minute ago, she's anxious about [00:11:00] this.
That goes hand in hand with feeling fully confident. If you don't feel confident to declutter, You're not going to declutter. This also includes getting prepared mentally and physically prepared, creating a plan of action, deciding where to start, deciding what to let go of, getting this stuff out of your house, handling your sentimental items, decluttering other people's belongings and more.
And again, this is a photo of my garage when I first started decluttering and A year and a half, two years later, all of this stuff was gone and we could park an entire car in this garage. So I know from experience how to go through every single one of these things, like to all the way from feeling anxious and overwhelmed to fleering away and letting go of decades worth of stuff.
So because of all these. Things that fall under [00:12:00] the umbrella of decluttering. That is why, before now, you have likely been feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and anxious, like Sue said. But the good news is that we can make it simple. It might not seem like decluttering is simple, but it can be very simple.
And we can get there. So I'm going to share with you how to make the entire decluttering phase much more simple. Now, knowing that the decluttering phase is phase 2 of the Peaceful Home Roadmap, Well, we can actually break the decluttering phase down into two individual stages. The very first stage being foundational decluttering and during this stage of foundational decluttering, this is when you are focused and prioritizing creating a plan of action, choosing a decluttering method, deciding where to start creating a clutter [00:13:00] free zone in your home.
I mentioned this yesterday that having one clutter free zone will give you the confidence and the motivation and the, and the, um, Really the encouragement to continue doing the same thing in every other space of your house. So having a clutter free zone, creating it falls underneath foundational decluttering.
This also includes decluttering your main living spaces and really beginning the process of letting go. So during this first stage of foundational decluttering, you're essentially getting started. It's all about getting started because I can tell you from experience, like that photo with my garage, wherever it went.
When I was getting started. There is no way in hell that I, when I first started the very first time I ever came out here to this garage and decided I was going to declutter, there is no way in hell that I would have been able to pick up one of my late mother's items and just get rid of it. [00:14:00] There's no way I would have been able to do that.
There's no way I would have successfully got all of the clutter out of my house. Like it was a process and it took. Quite a while for me to put all the puzzle pieces together on my own. However, what did work for me is like, I was just sharing the first stage of foundational decluttering. What worked for me is doing these basic things and just starting the process one step at a time.
So how foundational decluttering works is your. You're going through the foundational content, the foundational things that you need to know in order to declutter like a boss and clear away your excess stuff and really begin the process of learning how to let go. You're doing this and you're decluttering your main living spaces to the best of your ability.
Then, once you feel satisfied with that. Then you move on [00:15:00] to the second stage, which is thorough decluttering. During this stage, you're going deep instead of wide. So that is a little euphemism I use to describe how most of us go wide when we're trying to tackle our homes. We look wide. Widely around at all the spaces, and we're trying to make the entire room look as best as possible, and that actually works really well during foundational decluttering.
But during the 2nd stage of thorough decluttering, you want to go deep. So instead of trying to, uh, like, make my whole office area look the best it can, I'm going to go deep into The drawers in here and the cabinets. I'm going to go deep and declutter the, uh, all the stuff that's deeper within this one space.
And it's the same for every room in your house. If you're decluttering your closet instead [00:16:00] of just kind of, you know, Going a little bit wide and dealing with the things that you can see with your naked eye, you want to go deep into the back of your closet. So that's what thorough decluttering is all about.
It's going deep instead of wide. It also comes down to tackling the hidden clutter. Like I was just saying with the closet, the stuff that's hidden and piled away behind closed doors that's been hidden away for maybe years on end. During thorough decluttering, you're letting go of more difficult items.
You're focusing on the sentimental clutter. You're developing better self awareness, and you're essentially thoroughly decluttering your entire house. So foundational decluttering is when you're beginning the process of clearing your clutter, and you're getting used to making effective decluttering decisions as you begin to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and you learn how to let go.
Whereas thorough decluttering is when you're more intentional and purposeful as [00:17:00] you go deep. into the deeper layers of your home, and you begin to sort through the things that you have been holding on to for years or maybe even decades. When you follow these two decluttering stages, you're first starting with the easier tasks and all the prep work as you learn how to start decluttering.
And then you'll move on to the more difficult decluttering tasks. And today, we're going to be focusing on foundational decluttering as we help you figure out where to start. So let me know in the comments if you have ever wondered where to start decluttering because that is like the most common question that I've got over the years.
Where should I start decluttering? Everybody wants to know and I know that it's, it can be very hard to try to figure that out. Like I was just saying, when you look around at all the stuff in your home and you see your entire household as a whole, you're [00:18:00] seeing it from a wide point of view. So, It can be really tough to figure out where to start.
So when it comes to knowing where to start decluttering. You want to think about clearing away your clutter just like you would peel back the layers of an onion. Now, I don't know who came up with this saying of peeling back the layers of an onion, because peeling an onion is not something that I have ever done, nor will I ever.
I will never peel an onion. I might take the top scaly leaves off on the outside, but I'm not going to just peel back the inner part of it, so. I just thought that was funny. But let's imagine for a moment that you were to peel back the layers of an onion. Where would you start? I just gave this answer away.
With the scaly leaves on the outside. You would start with those scaly leaves. So when you're considering this in terms of your clutter in your household, [00:19:00] the scaly leaves on the outside of an onion are not clutter at all. Those are the messes, the everyday messes in the homeless clutter. The scaly leaves on the outside of an onion are all the things that you want to keep, which is coincidentally why we start by overhauling those items first.
Then the clutter is the fleshy middle layers of the onion, the part that you want to eat, right? So if you were peeling back an onion, once you removed the scaling leaves on the outside, you would then start peeling back one fleshy layer at a time. And you want to do the exact same thing with your clutter, which is so mind blowing when you think about it, when you think about, okay, so I'm peeling back the scaly leaves, all the messes, I already did that for day one and day two.
Now for day three, we're going to be [00:20:00] focusing on how to peel back the clutter one little layer at a time. So, like I said, you start by overhauling the surface level of your home, like this photo of my living room. I think it was from 2019. The surface level is the top layer of your house. It's like your, your tables, your flat surfaces, the chairs, the floors, the surface level is any area that you can see with the naked eye.
And so it's like, these are the scaly leaves. On the outside of the onion, all these messes, all this chaos, this is the surface level of your home. Once you've overhauled and you've dealt with all those messes, and then you move on to phase two of the peaceful home roadmap, the decluttering phase, you want to start the foundational decluttering stage by clearing the clutter from the next layer of your house.
So the next layer after the surface layer of [00:21:00] your home, the next layer is the drawers, the shelves and the cabinets and the piles within easy reach. So it would be like my desk drawer and my desk cabinet, it would be kitchen drawers, kitchen cabinets, um, you know, a bookshelf in my living room. It's all those things that are within easy reach.
So during the foundational, the cluttering stage, you're going to focus on clearing away and purging the true accumulated clutter from that middle layer of your home. That's what I call the middle layer, because again, the outer layer, the surface layer, the scaling leaves of your household is the, it's the top stuff that you can see with the naked eye.
So the next layer underneath that is like the middle layer. And these are the things within easy reach the drawers, the cabinets, the, um, The shelves, the, uh, it could be piles. But it would be smaller piles, and I [00:22:00] really emphasize within easy reach because because of the fact that this is going to be different for everyone, and we all have different homes in different circumstances, it's really hard for me to say.
Sue, you need to start decluttering right here in this one exact spot because I don't know what your household looks like. But when you think about the areas within easy reach, Look around the room that you're sitting in right now and pinpoint one space, this middle layer of your home, a drawer, a shelf, a cabinet, anything along those lines, or a small pile that you could get to easily.
That is where you need to start decluttering. That's the magic answer. And it truly doesn't matter what room it's in. You could do your bedroom, your bathroom, your living room, your kitchen, your dining room. There's no, there's no magic answer. And I think the reason why, and I'm not saying [00:23:00] any of you do this, but some people have told me over the years that they literally cannot declutter because they don't know where to start.
If it's not knowing where to start decluttering is holding you back for years. It's not a matter of knowing where to start. It's a matter of the confidence and the, um, what's the word I'm looking for? Uh, just really the commitment and taking action. Because as I said, it doesn't matter where you start cluttering, as long as you choose one of these.
drawers, cabinets, shelves within easy reach that middle layer of your home where there's true accumulated clutter. As long as you choose one of those areas in one of your main living spaces, then you're golden. You know where to start. And you just get started immediately. You get started, you start taking action and then you keep moving forward.
There's no right or wrong answer here. So now you know that you can choose one of those [00:24:00] spaces and start clearing away your clutter. Then once you have completed the foundational decluttering stage, and you've tackled the, uh, drawers, the shelves, the cabinets that are within easy reach, you Then you can take it another layer deeper
from there. Well, where's my photo? It's not showing up from there. You will move on to the thorough decluttering stage as you again, take it another layer deeper this time, decluttering deeper hidden areas like the spaces that you've been avoiding for months or even years, like the back of a closet or a large accumulated pile of stuff that is stacked to the ceiling, for example, and then finally.
the final layers of clutter. This would be the items that you never thought you would ever let go of. [00:25:00] However, by this time, once you reach this stage of the process, once you, once you reach thorough decluttering, During the decluttering phase, you will have already purged all of the easy items from your house.
You will have demolished and cleared away so much stuff that letting go will be a lot easier. So by the time you reach these items that you never thought you would ever be able to let go of, letting go will be much, much easier. It will be so much more simple. Like I shared earlier, When I first started the cluttering in my garage, there's no way that I had, uh, like, as an example, this just came to the top of my mind.
My mother's, um, I don't know what they're called. My late mother's, those cards they give you at the funeral home when, um, you know, to pass out to everybody that's attending the funeral. I [00:26:00] had a bag full of, like, 100 of them, and I felt like I needed to hold on to them. Um, so when I first started the cluttering, there's no way that I could have ever got rid of those things.
But then later on in the process, when I had reached the thorough decluttering stage, it was easy for me to get rid of all of them. I mean, of course, I saved. A few, but I didn't need a hundred of them. I damn sure didn't need a bag full of them. And that is a specific item that when I first started decluttering, I thought I would never let those things go.
But then once I flexed my decluttering muscle and I let go of more and more stuff, and I got really good at making the decision and, and breaking my emotional attachments. then it was easy for me to let those types of items go. So, let me know in the comments if this sounds doable to you. If you feel like you can clear away your clutter, Just like you're peeling back the layers of an onion.
Share with us in the chat.[00:27:00]
Yes, Dorian. I think a lot of people do that.
So thinking of decluttering, just like you're peeling back the layers of an onion, it also has another benefit. When you consider all of your belongings and all of the clutter in your house, that means that. layers of stuff. So the i top layers of your home a 100 percent but are almost alway things that you use most be much easier to let go I'm bringing up these pro Pamphlets from my late mother's funeral again.
Those were not just okay. Let me start that over right after her funeral. [00:28:00] Yes, those pamphlets were just sitting on the top surface level of my home, but years down the line. They were not just chilling on my kitchen counters. Three years after she had passed, you know, they were like hidden away. And that's kind of where I'm going with this is that the things that you use most often are always going to be within easy reach.
They're always going to be on that top few layers of your home. It's the stuff that's piled away. Hidden back there, deep, deep, deep, hidden, hidden away, that that stuff is going to be harder for you to let go of. So this really puts all of your belongings into perspective, and it simplifies the process of how you can purge.
your entire house. So instead of starting with items that have been hidden in the back of your closet for the last 20 years, like your college sweatshirt, you can start with the items that will be super easy for you to let go of. And this, of course, is going to be different for [00:29:00] everyone. It might be easy for Sue to let go of a coffee cup full of pens, but Karen might have trouble with that.
So there's no, again, black or white answer for how this will work for you. You just need to be able to identify which items are easy for you personally, and which items are not. And I can tell you with certainty that this is one of the number one things that helped me make incredible progress in my home is if I came across an item that wasn't easy for me to even to let alone to clutter or even face some of those items that I came across.
Like I was not ready to even think about them. I didn't deal with them. I just put them to the side and then I kept going. I kept going. I kept focusing on the easy items and getting that stuff out one at a time, peeling back one layer at a time. [00:30:00] So the takeaway here is that you can declutter your home in two stages while simultaneously unloading different layers of clutter.
And this is so much more impactful than trying the marathon sessions, like what Marie Kondo says, I call them marathon declutter sessions where you're decluttering for like eight hours on end, or even trying to declutter an entire room all at once, because one room of your house might have several different layers of stuff, like things you want to let go of, As well as items that mean the world to you.
So it's going to be really hard. Like again, back to my garage example, when my garage was stacked at the ceiling and that was literally where I started. And I kept going until I made considerable progress. It was so hard for me because my garage was literally, that's kind of how I uncovered this. Like an onion [00:31:00] type metaphor, because the way that my story unfolded, that was my childhood home.
My mother bought it in like 1999. I moved out when I was 19. She cleared my bedroom out. I didn't, she didn't let go of anything. She just put it all in the garage. So that garage over the years had my baby items. Then it had her things like her, um, holiday items. Then when I moved out, she put all of my teenage items like kind of on top.
So like on a third layer. Then I moved back in for, you know, randomly over the years. Then she passed when I was 31. And so all that stuff was still in the garage. And then about two years later, I moved my family into that house. And when we moved in. And it was really stupid. My husband is not very smart.
He literally like dumped the moving trucks into the garage. And I was screaming at him, begging him like, [00:32:00] stop, put it in like, like categories in the driveway. And it's a really long story that I'm not going to get into right now, but we had been living in a hotel because the house flooded when We were trying to move in and it had to be restored and yada, yada, so he wanted to hurry and like empty the storage unit as soon as possible within like a day.
So he was literally dumping the moving truck. And so all of that to say, all of my family of 6 is belongings literally got piled on top of. Everything else that was already in the garage. And that's how I started to identify these different layers of clutter because my garage literally had layers of things starting with my baby items at the very bottom, then my late mother's things, then my teenage things, and then finally everything that my family owned.
And so when I was going through this and I was trying to declutter the entire garage, like, of course it was impossible for me because there were so many different layers and types of items that were in there. Like, I was never going to let go of my first tennis [00:33:00] shoes until the fire took them away from us, but so it was really hard for me to make any progress.
And that's 1 reason why it took me almost 2 years, but you don't want to wait. Like, you, you shouldn't wait. You need to get your house in order as soon as possible, because having it take me so long and me starting in the hardest area and slowly putting the pieces together on my own. I ended up missing out on many, many years of memories with my kids that I will never get back, um, their baby and toddler years.
You know, my kids are no longer, they're, my youngest is seven, so I regret having it, letting it take me so long. I regret not having somebody to show me the way and, and guide me through the process. So anyways, this is all much more impactful than trying to declutter your entire garage at once, or trying to declutter your entire living room at once, or even [00:34:00] trying to declutter for, you know, during a marathon session.
So let me know if you're ready to have more breathing room in less than 20 minutes while I share your action step for today.
Oh, this comments keep scrolling away.
Oh, I can't, I can't see them. I'll have to scroll back through in a minute. All right. So your action step for today is to choose one space in your home that has accumulated clutter. And you're going to sort through that one space as you decide what to keep and what to let go of. So to do this, I have two little simple methods that I'm going to share with you, and I shared about these yesterday during our Q& A session.
So these two options that you can choose from, [00:35:00] let's say you have a pile of stuff that you're going, a pile of accumulated clutter that you're going to sort through today for day three. What you will do is go through each item one at a time as you ask yourself, Do I want to keep this or do I want to let it go?
If you want to keep it, put it in one pile next to you. If you want to let it go, you'll put it in a second pile. That's it. Just two options. Two piles. Keep. Let go. That's it. The other strategy is to just ask yourself, Is this item important to me? If it is important, then keep it. If it's not important, then let it go.
And if you can't decide whether something is important to you or not, then that means that you need to just go ahead and keep it for now. I'm never going to have you force yourself to let something go if You are not certain because that's only going to lead to remorse and regret and that could derail your [00:36:00] decluttering progress altogether.
So we're making this super simple. This is how you can clear away and purge the clutter from your entire house no matter how long you've been trying. Even if you feel anxious or overwhelmed.
I was reading the comments because I know somebody, yeah, you guys had mentioned earlier about something I wanted to come back to. Like Sue said, as long as she doesn't tackle one space at a time. Yeah, like what I was saying about trying to declutter an entire room at a house. That came out way wrong.
Trying to declutter an entire room at once. If you can, what you really want to do is break. All of the spaces in your home down by like three foot by three foot areas. This [00:37:00] could be a piece of furniture. It could be a pile. It could be a box. Just one little area that is doable in less than 20 minutes.
The goal, what I always envision for my clients and my students is like Super Mario and Super Mario Brothers when he gets the firepower and he's like running around his, not his house, he's running around in the game and he's shooting fireballs at people, at the enemies, the little guys and stuff like that.
I don't know why, but that always comes to mind, because I imagine that's how you need to be decluttering your home. You're not shooting fireballs and stuff, but you're running around as quickly as you can, and you're just making quick decisions, like, I don't want this coffee cup, I'm gonna get rid of it.
I don't want this, this, that's a tissue, this book, I'm gonna get rid of it. I don't want this pillow, I'm going to get rid of it. You're doing it as quickly as possible. And The [00:38:00] more that you do that, the easier it's going to become. So if you're focusing on one little space in your home and you're like imagining that you're firepower Mario, and you're quickly deciding, is this item important to me?
If it's a yes, then you keep it. If it's no, it's not important to you, then you get rid of it. You add it to a donation box, a trash bag, put it on your curb, anything along those lines. And when you can do this for one little space, one little three foot by three foot area, then you can move on to the next space, the next piece of furniture.
And then so, You can keep going until you have decluttered that entire room. But yeah, trying to declutter an entire room all at once, it's something that a lot of people will end up doing out of habit. Because like I said earlier, we are naturally inclined to go wide. We see our entire home as a whole and we're trying to make the entire space look more orderly and [00:39:00] organized.
And so if that ever does happen, if you ever find yourself getting caught back up, trying to declutter an entire room all at once, you can still follow these same methods. Just The goal is to let go of as much as you can by separating the items that you want to keep from the items that you want to let go of.
So, once you have done your day three action step, you have chosen an area in your home that has accumulated clutter, you've sorted through, and Let go of as much as you possibly could. Go ahead and share your progress photos for a chance to win 40 points. Just like the last two days, we'll have a little post in this group where you can share all of your photos.
Now, so far today, you have learned, let's go over what we've covered today.[00:40:00]
We just uncovered why de cluttering in two stages simplifies the process. You've uncovered. This first, or let me rephrase this. You've uncovered stage one and stage two of the decluttering phase. This is foundational and thorough decluttering. You've also uncovered how to purge your entire house one step at a time without the overwhelm, just like you're peeling back the layers of an onion.
And you've learned how to easily decide what to keep and what to let go of by just having two choices. Keep or don't keep. Keep, let go of. Important, not important. Now let me [00:41:00] ask you a question.
How many of you feel like this? This woman on the screen, after everything that we've covered the last few days, maybe you're feeling, you know, like we've gone through so much. You're excited. You're ready. You're motivated. You are feeling like you can finally put this all in place in your home, but you also may be wondering how to make it work for you, how to make it work for your entire household.
Let me know if you feel like that, like you've got the pieces together because you've been able to do this for. a few individual spaces the last couple of days, but you might be wondering, okay, how can I do this for my, for my entire home?
Karen said, yes, I feel like that exactly. Well, so for decluttering and [00:42:00] organizing, for getting your house in order, here's what most people are going to do. They're going to watch experts like myself and try to mimic the strategy from the outside, mimic what they're doing from the outside. But if, and when that doesn't work, they end up moving on to the next tactic.
The next checklist, the next cleaning routine, the next organizing idea, etc. They'll also attend free classes and challenges just like this one, where they absorb more information, but they're still not sure how to put all the puzzle pieces together. And I would consider that the hard way, because it's never going to result in true, lasting change.
But there's a good, there's, there's, there's a much better way. There is a time saving way that will help you do all of this to help you seamlessly integrate these strategies, these methods into your household, your busy [00:43:00] life in your unique circumstances. My. Online course. It's a complete home management system called cluttered to calm.

If you have any questions about where you should start in your home or anything along the lines.[00:51:00]
Now, the doors are going to be open for cluttered to calm for. I think about 17 days. Until, um, June 22nd, I believe. So you have plenty of time to think this over. Ah, I lost, I lost the comments. There they are. Okay, you'll have plenty of time to speak with your partner about this. Really make the best decision for you and your household.
And I am here to support you every step of the way to help you really decide if this, Of course, if this home management system is the right fit for you, so I would love to support you. I would love to have you in there. The biweekly calls are 1 of my favorite. And since it's such a small program right now, this is only the 2nd time I've ever opened the doors.
There's [00:52:00] only a few and so. Sometimes there's one person, sometimes there's none, and that means that it's really the closest thing you can get to having, like, private coaching, to having one on one support for your household without the price tag. And because the program is still in the, what's the word I'm looking for?
Like the, the um, Like I'm still finishing building it all out. That's it's, that's why there's a founding member special right now. That's what's really on the table here is there's a founding member special. When you enroll, you get immediate access to the foundational content, the overhaul phase and the beginning stages of the decluttering phase.
And then throughout the rest of the summer, there's going to be more and more lessons added every single week to guide you through everything you could need to get organized and maintain your house for years to come.
So does anybody have [00:53:00] any questions?
I need to go pick up my kids. When I scheduled the, uh, this challenge, I did not know that their summer school ended. An hour later, because I definitely would have scheduled this at a different time. I would have probably chose for our live sessions to be an hour before they originally were, because it has been a little bit stressful to think, Oh my gosh, I gotta go get my kids in a few minutes, you know, and then, Run across town to go get them.[00:54:00]
So Dorianne, I would recommend it depends on how big these project. I, you said AC units. So, um,
I would recommend having a dedicated section of a room for all of that stuff. That's containing them, giving them a dedicated home, like my husband, my gosh, he, it drives me crazy, drives me up a wall because when we met, he wasn't into this stuff. He's got like welding tools. It's all over here in the corner of this den.
That's why my office is back here and his stuff is over there. He's got a window unit that came from the house. We lost in the fire and I just shove it all in the corner. That's the best that I could do. That's the only way that I could keep it out of our stuff like the rest of our home or the rest of our belongings when I walk over there.
It drives me crazy [00:55:00] when I'm sitting here. I can see it. It drives me crazy, but that's really the only solution. And then what I was going to say is that for a smaller project things like if it's a piece of wood, if it's some tape, if it's. I don't know. I'm trying to think of examples. You know, just random smaller things.
You could get like a big bin and just store all of that stuff in there. And you could even categorize them by type of project and like the to do list. You mentioned you could tape it up on the wall. And yes, it's it can be hard when you're doing these projects in your house because it's like they take over Karen.
Um,
yeah, it sounds like it's probably a personal decision. Don't put too much thought into it, Karen. You just choose one. You could do eeny, meeny, miny, moe. There's no right or wrong answer, because you can really think of it as, [00:56:00] if you start with spot A or spot B, either way, you're going to tackle both of them in the next week.
So, it's okay. You just choose one. Just choose one. I was thinking about you this morning, Karen. I think I think the best thing for you is to keep moving forward. Always don't overthink the process. Just go. You got to just lead with lead with your body, take action and just trust yourself that you can do this.
Don't let yourself overthink, because I think when you, I think when you overthink, you're getting caught up and, and you're overthinking and then you're not taking action.
So does anybody have any other questions? That's great, Rose. And you know, some people, they're not going to have any [00:57:00] messes. Others are not going to have any clutter. And that's fantastic. If you don't have that much clutter, the, the cluttering phase of the Peaceful Home Roadmap is still something that I recommend that you go through, because clearing and purging and letting go of your excess stuff is not only going to give you a lot more breathing room and open up so much space in your home, it's going to help you learn how to let go, so you can continue letting go of stuff.
And not ever risk it piling up in the future. You're welcome, Sue. You have a whole bunch of onions. Um, you're very welcome. It's been so great having you here tomorrow. You guys, we have our bonus day four. And that, um, Rose is going to, day four is going to be all about getting organized. And the organizing phase of the Peaceful Home Roadmap is, it's [00:58:00] about, Your mind, your life, and your home.
You're organizing everything. You're, you're fully becoming an organized person and that will give you mental breathing room, which is so incredible to have. So yeah, I'll come back on here and do another Q and a session. I go get started on your day three action step, clearing away one space in your home, clearing away the accumulated clutter from one space in your home.
Doesn't matter what area it is, like rows, it could be your chest of drawers or your closet. Just make it quick and simple by sorting through and deciding what you want to keep and what you want to let go of. And I will talk to you all soon. And I will be back to, to share more about cluttered to calm.
I'm going to share a behind the scenes video showing you all what's included, all that good stuff. So you have the complete picture and know everything that you're getting with your enrollment. All right. [00:59:00] Bye.
